Obituary for Walter William Skibitsky

Walter W. Skibitsky, 90, of Lambertville, NJ, died at his home on Sunday, July 12, 2020.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Walter was a gifted commercial artist working with several national magazines including American Home, Scouting Magazine, Golf Digest and Kennel Management, where he also served as vice-president. He began his artistic training at the High School of Industrial Arts in New York City and earned an associate degree in commercial art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. While serving in the US Army Walter was based at Fort Hood and used his artistic training as a cartographer. Upon retiring from commercial design and The Chauncey Conference Center at ETS, Walter continued into a second career in hospitality working at the Lambertville House. Walter’s career led the family to Ridgefield, CT, Skillman, NJ, Lawrence, NJ and Wilmette, IL. Lambertville became his retirement home.

Walter was devoted to his family and loved many close friends. He was the husband of the late Sally Mills Skibitsky, the son of the late Vladimir and Emilia Shatesky Skibitsky and the brother of the late Felicia Seskin. Walter is survived by his children Michael Skibitsky of Trenton, NJ, Andrew Skibitsky and his wife Deborah of Westfield, NJ, Charles Skibitsky and his wife Michelle of Sandwich, IL, and Ellen Skibitsky of Morrisville, PA; his grandchildren Drew Skibitsky and his fiancé Cara Webster, Hope Marrus and her husband Justin and their daughter Juniper, Shane Skibitsky and his fiancé Tracy Kaplan, Troy Skibitsky and his wife Agatha, Emily Baskerville and her husband Alex and Chase Skibitsky.

The memorial mass will be offered on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 11 am at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 54 East Prospect Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Hopewell, NJ.

Visitation at the church on Tuesday, July 21, from 10 am until the start of mass.
