Obituary for Joseph Charles Mullen Jr.

Joseph C. Mullen, Jr. of Lambertville, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the Rolling Hills Care Center in Lebanon, NJ.

Born in Lambertville on June 6, 1926, Joseph was a lifelong Lambertville resident. He was the son of Joseph C. Mullen, Sr. and Raphealla Yannarella Mullen. He attended St. John the Evangelist Elementary School and Lambertville High School. Joseph left school in 1944 and enlisted in the US Army. He received an honorable discharge as a Technician 4th class in 1946. Joseph was always very proud of his World War II Army service.

Joseph was a skilled mason. After his military service he joined his father as a maker of burial vaults for area cemeteries. He later worked for Choppi Brothers Masonry in Stockton.

Joseph was predeceased by his longtime companion Gloria Monteverde, Gloria’s daughter Sharon Wutke and his brothers-in-law Simpson N. Agin and John E. Schenck III.

He is survived by Gloria’s daughter and her son-in-law Susan and David Peifly of New Hope, PA; his sisters Elizabeth Agin of Ewing, NJ, Margaret Schenck of New Hope and Barbara Coles and her husband Allan of St. Cloud, FL. He is also survived by four nieces and four nephews.
