Joan Young, of Pennington, NJ, formerly of Lambertville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her family and close friends

Born on June 16, 1933 in Lambertville, Joan was a Lambertville resident until moving to Pennington 19 years ago. An educator, she taught 4th grade at the McGalliard Elementary School in Hamilton Township for 38 years, retiring in 1992. At the time of her retirement the school honored her years of service by renaming the school’s library to the Joan Young Library. She was a graduate Trenton State College (now College of New Jersey). Joan was an active member of the Mercer County Retired Educators’ Association, the Nottingham Women’s Club and a travel member of the Hamilton Squares Club.

Joan enjoyed travel and shopping, good food and special occasions with loved ones. She was a great correspondent keeping up with family and friends by sending notes and always remembering their birthdays. She had an infectious smile, a ready wit, treasured her family and friends and was loved by all.
Joan was the daughter of the late Lock Young and Ngan Joe Mong Young. She is survived by the Lui and Young families, her many cousins, colleagues and generations of students.
