Chester Leo Reasoner, 56, of Lambertville, NJ, died on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro, NJ.
Born in Doylestown, PA, Chester grew up in Lambertville. As a young man, he worked at Lambertville Ceramics. He lived in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania and the Trenton area before returning to Lambertville six years ago.
Chester was a dedicated member of the community. He graduated from South Hunterdon Regional High School where he was a gifted athlete and a member of the basketball, baseball, and football teams. In 1979, his football team won the Central Jersey Group 1 Championships. He would go on to play football at William Paterson University. Later in life, he volunteered at Fisherman’s Mark and enjoyed working with young people. He coached Ramblers’ Football in Lambertville and taught Summer Bible School at the Old Rocks Church in West Amwell.
Chester also served as a firefighter with the City of Trenton Fire Department for nine years. A skilled carpenter, Chester owned and operated Jayco Maintenance Co., a home improvement service, and worked with Donald Hart Enterprises in Lambertville. Recently, he worked in retail at Trader Joe’s, Joseph A. Banks, Raymour and Flanigan, and Shop Rite.

In his free time, he enjoyed reading, playing golf, fishing, history and cooking. His favorite channel was the Food Network. He especially enjoyed discussing “Throwdown! with Bobby Flay” with his sister, Cheryl.

Chet was also a gentleman who loved his family and doted on his nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Chester Andrew Reasoner, who passed away on March 4, 2018. He is survived by his mother Brenda Marie Daniels Reasoner of Lambertville; his sister and her husband Cheryl Reasoner Wethers and Darren Wethers of Anthem, AZ; his brothers and their wives Richard E. and Michele Reasoner of Miami, FL and Roger S. and Stacy Reasoner of Flemington, NJ; his nieces and nephews Lauren Wethers, Chet’s goddaughter, of New Orleans, LA, Harrison Wethers of Anthem, AZ, Scott Reasoner of Philadelphia, PA, Brady Reasoner of East Stroudsburg, PA, Tyler Reasoner of Flemington, NJ and Brienna Reasoner of Flemington, NJ; and an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Chester will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 11am at the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad Ballroom, 72 Alexander Ave., Lambertville, NJ 05830.

Calling hours will be held at the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad Ballroom on Friday evening from 6-8pm and on Saturday morning from 10-11am.
