Jack C. Goushian of New Hope, PA, died on Wednesday, October 13, 2017 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 89.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Jack graduated from Central High School. He earned his degree B.S. from St. Joseph’s College in 1950and his law degree from Temple University in 1953. An accomplished attorney, Jack was a founding partner of the law firm of Goushian, Mooridian and Goldsmith in Philadelphia, established in 1965. Earlier he was associated with the firm of Jenkins, Bennett and Jenkins. Jack served in the US Army during the post World War 2 period. He was stationed in the Pacific. His dedicated service brought him to the attention of such top brass as Generals Maxwell Taylor, J.E. Hull and L.J. Lemnitzer and led to Jack’s assignment to the Far East and United Nations commands. Proud of his Armenian heritage, Jack was a founding member of the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church in Cheltenham. He was also active at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in New Hope. Jack was a member of the Union League in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations and the past president of the Armenian Student Association,
In 1997 Jack retired and moved with his spouse, Victor Basile, to Chapel Road in Solebury. In 2014, they moved to New Hope Manor in New Hope.

Jack is survived by his spouse of 57 years, Victor A. Basile; his brother Berj ( Sue) Goushian; his sisters-in-law Nancy Goushian and Aida Goushian and many nieces, nephews and cousins and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Garabed and Kayne Mazmanian Goushian; his sister and her husband Dorothy and Harry Torosian and his brothers John “Gus” Goushian and Souren Goushian.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 12 noon at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 101 Ashmead Road, Cheltenham, PA 19102. Interment will follow at Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge, PA.

Calling hours will be held at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com) on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm and at the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church on Monday morning from 11 am until the start of services.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Jack’s favorite charities: the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church (elevator fund), 101 Ashmead Road, Cheltenham, PA 19102 or to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 10 Chapel Road, New Hope, PA 18938.
