Obituary for Rita Thornton

Rita Thornton, 63, of Lambertville, New Jersey, died at her home on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. She was 63.

Born in Doylestown, PA, Rita was a lifelong resident of Lambertville. She was the supervisor of laundry services at the Briarleaf Care Center in Doylestown before retiring some years ago. Rita was a gifted knitter and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles. She took occasional trips to Atlantic City and loved playing FarmVille on the computer. She was a kind and gentle woman, always ready to assist a relative or friend.

Rita was a devoted mother to her late son, Edward, and a loving daughter to her late parents Millard O. and Carrie Prutzman Thornton. Rita is survived by her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Alice and Tim McCarthy of Carversville, PA, Millard O. “Butch” and Karren Thornton of Lambertville,George Thornton of Lititz, PA, Mary and David Karr of Lancaster, PA, Joyce Hopkins of Flemington, NJ and Virginia and Brian Myers of Wrightstown, NJ; her daughter-in-law Jessica her many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Route 29 South at Route 202, Lambertville, NJ 08530,
on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 2 pm for graveside services as Rita’s ashes are laid to rest alongside her beloved son, Eddie.
